The AOG upgrade course is a five day program that can transform you from a Level 1 Day Guide into assisting on multi day sea kayak expeditions! Start with foundational skills and become proficient at making safe, responsible decisions, dealing with dynamic situations and camping in spectacular places while learning to embrace challenging West Coast conditions.
Throughout the five days, we will become proficient paddlers in strokes, rescue techniques, navigation, group management, communication and camp craft. We will practice leadership scenarios and dynamics situations, surf landings/launches, paddling in and open ocean swells. We get stoked on learning about weather, tides and currents, environmental and cultural awareness, and just getting amongst it while learning from our observations and experiences!
Learning can begin once fully paid and registered for our program. You will be given access to our online campus which will ensure that you have the baseline theoretical knowledge prior to the practical part of the course.
