For youth aged 9-12, this adventurous 4 day program is full of challenges, fun and learning. Campers practice kayak strokes and rescues on beautiful Cusheon Lake in preparation for ocean paddles to beaches in close proximity to Salt Spring.

There are hikes to Ruckle Park and the Menhinick First Nations reserve, with their majestic fir and cedar trees, arbutus groves and stunning seascapes. We plan the shoreline excursions during low tide to facilitate optimum intertidal exploration and the mountain hikes for the warmer times of the day to keep cooler in the shade.

Our certified playful guides teach campers about the coastal ecosystems, initiative games and survival skills. They supervise the daily free time at the lake when campers can swim, stand up paddleboard, kayak, canoe and tool around in a motorized rowboat.
 This is an exciting introduction to adventuring in our spectacular Gulf Islands. We also hope that it will spark an interest in ongoing outdoor pursuits and a respect for protecting Mother Nature!!

Join our team for a unique experience to Surf & Kayak on the West Coast of Vancouver Island.

We will spend 7 days surfing the beautiful beaches in Pacific Rim National Park while also exploring the forests and shorelines, deepening our connection with these magnificent places.

During the surfing component of this program we will be base camping at Surf Junction Campground between Ucluelet and Tofino.

Once we have surfed to our hearts’ content, we will transition to the sea kayak portion of the journey. We will set out from Toquaht Bay near Ucluelet and spend 7 days paddling & camping throughout the Broken Group Islands in the Barkley Sound. During our kayak journey we will experience this vast archipelago of amazing islands and the creatures, large and small that inhabit the lands and waters of this abundant environment.

This program brings together youth ages 15 - 18 years old and helps them build their confidence while taking on Leadership roles with guidance from their instructors and support from their piers. All youth will be part of the cooking, cleaning, packing, and decision making. Music, song and laughter accompany shared reflections as we journey through this magical part of the world!!.

All of the places we will visit during this program are home to the Nuu-Chah-Nulth people of the Tla-o-qui-aht, Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ & Toquaht First Nations who have stewarded these land for time immemorial. We honor and respect the places where we learn & play while opening our hearts and minds to the rich cultural places we will get to experience on this journey.

Embark on an epic sea kayak adventure packed full with learning while exploring the beautiful west coast of Vancouver island!

This program brings together a group of 10 youth ages 15-18 with 2 phenomenal guides who possess a wealth of knowledge and experience in their field. These certified guides are dedicated to creating unforgettable and positive experiences for youth to connect with nature and each other while learning about our marine and terrestrial ecosystems.

This adventure will begin in the Alberni Valley before transitioning to Barkley or Clayoquot Sound for an epic sea kayak expedition. There will be a shuttle on Day 1 from Crofton and the Nanaimo Ferry to Port Alberni.

Participants can expect to take on leadership roles within the group where they will help to facilitate meal preparation and clean up, decision making, route planning and caring for the team. This program provides the opportunity for youth to learn skills like navigation, weather theory, understanding tides + currents and how to make safe decisions with a group on the water.

Kayak Camp is an action packed, adventurous journey exploring the magical Southern Gulf Islands. Campers will learn kayak strokes, rescues, navigation and low impact camping skills.

This program will bring together 10 youth aged 13 to 18 with two of our phenomenal certified guides. Our team creates a family dynamic

Where youth will establish friendships while developing a deeper connection and respect for the amazing places where we get to play! Campers will learn about marine and terrestrial ecology through observations and hands on experiences. As the week progresses, campers become more proficient paddlers and campers in the ever- changing environment.

This adventure will begin on Salt Spring Island where we will spend our first day learning kayak strokes + rescues on Cusheon lake, then camping that night at beautiful oceanfront Ruckle Park. The remaining five nights we will be camping at National and Provincial Park campsites throughout the wondrous Gulf Islands. Depending on weather and our group dynamics, this expedition could take us to islands, such as Wallace, Galliano, Pender, Portland and DeCourcy, stopping at many epic little beaches and islands along our way.

Campers can expect to take on leadership roles within the group, where they will help help to facilitate cooking, cleaning, decision making, route planning and caring for the team. Stellar company and delicious wholesome food will be shared at our amazing unique wilderness campsites throughout the program. Our journey will provide opportunities to observe marine mammals, intertidal creatures, seabirds, spectacular scenery, and whatever else nature has on its agenda for us!

All of the places we will visit during this program are home to the Coast Salish peoples of Tsawout, Quw’utsun & Penelakut First Nations who have stewarded these land for time immemorial. We honour and respect these magical places where we learn & play while our hearts and minds are opened to the rich cultural experience of this journey.

Suitable for beginner and experienced surfers alike, this program is an awesome mix of surfing, camping, hiking, exploring and a whole lot of West Coast fun! This camp will bring together 10 youth ages 13 - 18 with two of our amazing certified instructors who share their love and knowledge of surfing with the group.

Our base camp is located in the Alberni Valley which is en route to Pacific Rim. We will offer a shuttle from Crofton and the Nanaimo ferry or meet in Port Alberni before traversing the mountains to the rugged West Coast. Base camp will be set up at Surf Junction Campground near Ucluelet including perks such as a sauna, hottub and showers. Later in afternoon on day 1, we begin with fundamental surf skills at one of the stellar beaches in the Pacific Rim National Park.

Campers will have the opportunity to surf Long Beach and Wickaninnish dependent on swell, tides + wind. There will be 2 instructors in the water teaching safety, surf etiquette and assisting participants with reading the waves, paddling and popping up!

All surf gear is provided but if participants have their own surfboards or wetsuits, they are welcome and encouraged to bring them.

Surf camp is much more than just shredding the waves; throughout our week on the coast, we will be learning via observations and experiences, about forest and marine ecology which will show us how intertwined everything really is.

We facilitate a safe and inclusive space for youth to be themselves, establish friendships and build a stronger and more reciprocal connection with these amazing places that we get to explore!

Campers can expect to take on leadership roles within our group where they will help coordinate cooking, cleaning, decision making and caring for the team. We will eat wholesome meals made from scratch in epic places with good people + positive vibes. This surf adventure will get you stoked!
